Persistent hyperplastic tunica vasculosa lentis and persistent hyperplastic primary vitreous (PHTVL/PHPV) in a Pembore Welsh Corgie
Persistent hyperplastic tunica vasculosa lentis (PHTVL) and persistent hyperplastic primary vitreous (PHPV) are congenital eye anomalies that results from hyperplastic development of the hyaloid system and primitve vitreous combinened with incomplete regression. This rare ocular abnormality has already been described described in man, several dog breeds, transgenic mice, labor rats and cats.(1,2) (3,4) Bilateral PHTVL/PHPV proved to be inherited in the Doberman, Staffordshire Bull Terrier and it is presumably inherited in one line of the Bouvier des Flandres.
